IvyPlus Exchange Scholar, Columbia University 2020-2023
Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Lab Principal Investigator: Dr. Dima Amso
Multicultural Enrichment and Working Memory Development in Ghanaian 4 to 7-Year-Old Children
Collaborative partnership with the Ministry of Education in Ghana to conduct a multipart study to understand how differences in the lived experiences of children in Ghana and the United States shape working memory development.
Conducted ethnographic, virtual focus groups with parents and teachers in Accra, Ghana. Developed a combination inductive and deductive analysis codebook. Survey design and implementation of culturally appropriate measures.
Mechanisms and Experiences Underlying Developmental Change in Updating Rules into Working Memory from 4 to 7 years
Graduate Student Researcher, Brown University 2017-2020
Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Lab Principal Investigator: Dr. Dima Amso
First Year Project: Assessing the Impact of Socioeconomic Status on Working Memory Performance in Computerized vs. Naturalistic Testing Environments
Developed and conducted a novel, touchscreen MATLAB game and SmartPlayroom based experiment with N = 150 children between the ages of 4 to 7 years old to understand the role of lived experience and technology use on their working memory development. Coded a Python version of the task to collect an online national sample.
The SmartPlayroom uses cameras, eye trackers, and computer vision technology to capture real time responses and social interactions of the child and experimenter. Trained and managed a team of research assistants to support data collection.
